I'm using an Apple iPhone 7 or newer with a built-in NFC Reader and my Sensor won't connect - Can you help?

Here's a list of tips that may help you connect to your device:

  • Firstly, please ensure that you have updated to the latest version of the OvuSense App via the App Store.
  • Next, you must ensure that your phone/tablet has an adequate battery level. If your battery level is low, it is best to recharge it before attempting to connect.
  • Remove any case on your device which may prevent the Sensor from connecting.  Even thin cases can prevent a signal being transferred between the Sensor and the phone.
  • Make sure your mobile data is turned on. Click on the Settings icon on your device. Scroll down until you reach the settings for your Apps, and then scroll down until you reach the OvuSense App icon.  Click on the OvuSense App icon. Make sure that the button next to 'Mobile Data' is switched to on (green).
  • If you are wearing an Apple Watch, please remove it from your wrist and place it away from the Sensor whilst attempting to download your data.
  • It is important that you then action the following:

    1.    Remove any case on your device which may prevent the Sensor from connecting

    2.    Check that you have updated to the latest version of the OvuSense App via your App Store

    3.    Check that your microphone and mobile data are switched on. Click on the Settings icon on your device. Scroll down until you reach the settings for your Apps, and then scroll down until you reach the OvuSense App icon.

    4.    Ensure that your phone has an adequate battery level. You must also make sure that your device is not in 'Battery Saving' mode. If your battery level is low, it is best to recharge it before attempting to connect.

    5.    Ensure that all components within your phone are genuine.

  • Once you have checked the above, please follow the tips below:

    1.      Force the OvuSense app to close (iOS: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201330)

    2.      Make sure you are connected to a strong WIFI signal, and then check your connection by opening https://myovusense.com/ and https://www.ovusense.com/ from your phone.

    3.      Open the OvuSense app and wait one minute before doing anything else on the phone/tablet.

    4.      Find the markings on the tail of the Sensor. You will need to make sure these markings are always pointing towards the phone during the connection process.

    5.      Open the Sensor page and click 'Download sensor data' or ‘Register a sensor’ as appropriate.

    6.      After the ‘Ready to scan’ pop-up appears, bring the top-left corner of the phone, (where the phone’s NFC chip is located), into contact with the side of the sensor with the markings. Only keep the sensor next to the phone for 2-3 seconds – keeping it there longer will not help.

If the connection is not established on the first ‘hold’ of the sensor, move the sensor over 10cm away, wait a second or two, and then bring the sensor and phone together again.

    7.     If there is no connection after five or so of these attempts, press Cancel on the phone and then press Back to return to the Sensor page, then try again. The act of opening the iOS scan page more than once can help get the process started.
