I'm using an Apple device and the number '1' does not highlight green when I attempt to connect - what could this mean?

The NFC Reader uses all 3 poles of the audio jack on an Apple phone/ iPad.   It uses sound to output messages to the sensor and the microphone to receive messages.

The effectiveness of the NFC communications are directly influenced by the following things:

  • The NFC Reader being plugged in fully (otherwise the microphone part of the NFC Reader pole may not be engaged) – that’s why we advise that you remove any casing from your device before attempting connection
  • The microphone being turned on for the OvuSense App – the OvuSense App sets this automatically on startup but you may accidentally disable it then or later
  • The volume being turned up fully – the OvuSense App turns up the volume fully but with recent iOS versions it appears that this sometimes doesn’t happen or doesn’t work.  Please ensure that the Ringer is set to 'On' and the volume is turned up fully.
